The Game Continues

"Quick" comic that spawned from the announcement that Dance Wars would be closing on August 31. And I've rambled about it 100 times, but it was terrible news.

For whoever hasn't heard, the last two weeks in June had an event in the iOS game, Dance Wars. Yuni threw a party to welcome Michael into the DDR team. The in-game event was a bingo-like game, where your score determined what numbers you got on your card. At the end of the event, winners get a cute party hat item, and Michael became part of the crew.

Days later, Konami announced the game would end in two months.

And for all fan art purposes, poor Mike. He was hyped up in the event and then he's just going to be ditched. He's not an AC character; Dance Wars was his first and currently only game where he was the main mascot.

And then there's real world problems: "DDR is dead," "good riddance," "I give up."

For lack of a better phrase, screw you guys, you are the reasons rhythm games always do badly overseas

Yeah, I drew this initially thinking the characters are still holding on to Michael. But a fanbase in general, especially one for a less-popular series, needs to keep supporting the series. If we want the DDR scene to be alive (new game or no new game), just keep playing. I get it if you don't think DDR is fun anymore, but don't quit playing a game just because it isn't new, or because the company gave up on it. DDR has almost-died multiple times and we'll bring it back again as long as we give Konami a reason to.
